    Judie M. Barger
Judie is in her 5th year teaching at the Appalachian School of Law where she teaches criminal law and criminal procedure related classes. She practiced for 8 years in Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia area. Her favorite hobbies are professional football (Go Bengals!) and scrapbooking.
 
    Anand Doshi
Anand moved to Martin, Kentucky on June 10, 1992. He graduated from Alice Lloyd College in the year 2001 and is currently finishing his thesis for Masters in History from Marshall University, Huntington, West Virginia. He is currently working at the University of Appalachia College of Pharmacy as Assistant Director of Informatics and Learning Resource Center. He also developed and taught online United States of America History course for the Big Sandy Community and Technological College.
 
    Debra Green
Debra grew up in a small farming community in southeast Missouri, in the same town as singer Sheryl Crow (year behind). She took her undergrad degree in journalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia; she worked as a journalist in the Washington D.C. area for five years. She graduated from law school in 1991 from the University of Wisconsin and then worked for several years in Phoenix, Arizona. She came to Grundy, Virginia, after teaching for several years at a law school in Jacksonville, Florida. Her hobbies are gardening, cooking, knitting, singing and surfing Q.V.C.
 
    Ernie Hertzog
Born in Greensburg, PA, moved into SW Virginia having accepted a position with his new bride at the Mountain Mission School in 1972. He has since served the children at MMS as a teacher, house parent, coach, athletic director, youth leader, preacher, counselor, and administrator. He has a beautiful wife, Patti, two wonderful sons and daughters-in-law and the best grandson in the world.  He holds a teaching degree from Milligan College, TN and a masters degree in counseling from ETSU. Ernie enjoys bike riding, hiking, golf, being a part of so many children’s lives, and passionately loves Pittsburgh professional sport teams.
 
   

Priscilla Johnson
I have been in the Grundy Kiwanis Club for four years, and am presently serving on the Board of Directors.  Special projects I have enjoyed are Kids Day, Easter Egg Hunt, Christmas in Buchanan County, and the Relay for Life. I am also a seed member of the newly formed Kiwanis Club of Council.   The Grundy Kiwanis Club chartered the Key Club in 2004 at Grundy High School; I serve as the Kiwanis Key Club advisor.  This year the Key Club had a booth at the Relay, and Yvonne Holley, the past governor for our Capital district visited and worked with us.  I have been married to Danny Johnson for 18 years and we live at Big Rock.  Danny is surface foreman for United Coal and I work at Rife’s TV and Appliance.  We have two daughters Jennifer, 16, and Taylor, 14.  I am proud that both daughters are in the Key Club!  I graduated from Grundy Senior High in 1987, married and had my family; then I returned to SVCC and graduated in 1999with an associate degree in science.  My hobbies are cooking, enjoying the lake and being with my family.  I’m also a “Harley” fan!

    Jason McGlothlin
Jason is a lifelong resident of Buchanan County. He graduated from Council High School in 1994, Southwest Virginia Community College in 1999 and graduated Cum Laude from Virginia Intermont College with a major in Organizational Management. He is currently enrolled in King College pursing a Masters of Business Administration. He is employed by Appalachian School of Law as an Admissions Counselor. He is a co-captain of the Appalachian School of Law Relay for Life team, on the Advisory Board "PICK" program, volunteer for the Buchanan County Christmas Collaborative program, and is actively involved in the Blackford Community Church.
 
    Curtis R. Mullins, Sr.
Curtis is a lifelong resident of Buchanan County.  He is a 1970 graduate of Mountain Mission School, a 1974 graduate of Milligan College and a 1978 graduate of Gupton Jones College.  He is a licensed Funeral Director and has been working at Grundy Funeral Home for 32 years.  His interests include camping, backpacking and hiking.  He has served as Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 740 for the past 20 years and has had the privilege of helping 27 young men reach the rank of Eagle including both his sons, Curtis Jr. and Ryan.  He has a daughter, Shannon who is a rising senior at UVA Wise.  He is married to the former Susan Jones and she works at Mountain Mission School.
 
    Ryan C. Mullins
Ryan was born and raised in Grundy, Virginia. He was very involved with scouting throughout his youth and reached the rank of Eagle Scout and was the Eagle Scout of the Year for the State of Virginia. He is a graduate of Mountain Mission School Class of 2000. He also attended Southwest Virginia Community College and graduated from Radford University in 2004 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Management. Currently his is working at the Grundy Funeral Home where he is the Director of I.T. and is working towards becoming a licensed funeral directors. He works with many organizations including: the Boy Scouts of America, American Cancer Society: Relay for Life, Southern Youth in Action, Kiwanis Club of Grundy at attends the Grundy Church of Christ. His favorite team is the World Champion: Pittsburgh Steelers.
 
    Jerry Nesamony
Jerry is originally from Trivandrum, the capital city of the state of Kerala, India situated at the southern peninsula tip of the Indian subcontinent. He obtained a Bachelor of Science and a Masters in Pharmacy from the Medical College in Trivandrum before coming to the United States in August 2000 as a Ph.D. student at the College of Pharmacy, University of Louisiana at Monroe. He graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics in August 2005 and moved to Grundy to join the University of Appalachia College of Pharmacy as an Assistant Professor. He lives in Vansant, Virginia and is married to Ancy who is currently in India. He enjoys hiking and camping. Nature and architectural photography is also a favorite hobby.
 
   

Ricky Owens
I have been a member of the Grundy Kiwanis Club since February of 2002, and enjoyed being president from 2004-05. I am currently the secretary. I help every year with the Grundy 5K race and help start the 5K race at the Breaks. I also helped start the first Special Kids Field Day at Riverview.  I was a past president for the Cumber of Commerce and also am a member of the Casa Board. On a personal note, I have lived and worked in Grundy my entire life. I am currently an employee at Rife’s TV where I have worked since 3-15-80. I am married to Garnette Owens who has also lived and worked in Grundy her entire life. We have two wonderful children, Elizabeth and Jonathan Owens, who are currently still in school.

 
   

Bill Parish
Bill is a native of Grundy, graduating from Grundy High in 1968.  He received his undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary in 1972.  He holds graduate degrees from the University of Virginia and Virginia Tech.  Bill was a member of the Kiwanis-sponsored Circle K Club while at William and Mary, serving two terms as Capital District Secretary-Treasurer.  He joined the Grundy Kiwanis Club in 1973 and served as president in 1977 and is serving again in this office for 2007.  He also served as club secretary for over 20 years.  Currently he is serving as a Commissioned Lay Pastor for the Castlewood and Mary Martin Presbyterian Churches.  He is married to the former Jennifer McClanahan, and they have one daughter, Erica, who is a third year student at the Appalachian School of Law.

 
 

 

Jon Rife
I have enjoyed being in the Kiwanis Club of Grundy for about 29 years; I have been past president, 1979-80 and in 2003-04.  I am presently Lt. Governor of Division 8 and will serve for the 2006-2007 term.  I am very proud to have been one of the original planners for the May 5K race, and the Breaks 5K Cross Country Run.  I am very proud to have helped form the new Council Kiwanis Club, the first new Kiwanis Club in Division 8 in 18 years.  We have also started hosting the Midwinter Conference in our Southwest Region and I’m happy to have helped on that committee.  On a more personal note, I have lived and worked my entire life in Grundy, other than the years I spend at University of Cincinnati, where I graduated in 1971 with a BBA in business.  I serve on the Board of Directors of TruPoint Bank and have been a supporter of Boys Scouts for many years.  I am the former owner of Rife Chevrolet, Rife Wholesale, and present owner of Rife’s TV and Furniture.  I am married to Rita McClanahan Rife who also is a native of Buchanan County and my son Brian is a lawyer for Penn Stuart in Bristol.
